Tuscan Weekend trip

Join our hands-on cooking classes at the Castelo Lucci, with our team of Executive Chefs at a private estate set in the heart of Tuscany in Arezzo. The Castelo Lucci Estate is a farm and garden property, which extends over 1200 acres. The 17th century hilltop village is about 500 meters above sea level and spreads over a forest and vineyard. It is situated on the ancient Roman road, which crossed over the Pergine district and connected the Chiana Valley to the Presciano Valley to join the Hadrian Cassia road. This ancient road was used in medieval times for travel from Rome to Tuscany. Several garden paths will lead you to extraordinary landmarks such as San Tommaso's church (mentioned in the Rationes Decimarrum of the 1302), the ruins of the 6th century Castle of Montelucci (destroyed during the invasion of the Florentines at the end of the 13th century), the ancient Roman pavement, the 1800 villas, the settlement of the Longobardo at Barbazzano and Quercetello (a small spring lake).

Located in the heart of Tuscany and on the border of Chianti, Castelo Lucci is at a short distance to the nearby cities of Arezzo, Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena, and Florence.

The estate was blessed by nature with lush landscapes, woods, olive groves, vineyards, meadows, cultivated fields, and spectacular views of the countryside. Its secluded location makes it the perfect place to relax the mind, body, and soul. Each room at Castello Lucci has recently been renovated with stylish and modern amenities including private bathrooms in all the bedrooms. In the manor house, guests can enjoy a large living room with fireplace, game room, television room, and music room complete with piano.

An inviting swimming pool, surrounded with lounge chairs, umbrellas and garden benches is just walking distance from each suite. You can read by the pool, take a swim or just take in the breathtaking landscape.

The poolside bar serves traditional light Tuscan lunches daily. The restaurant located in the farm's restored oil mill, serves regional Tuscan dishes, while the stylish wine bar on the estate offers an expansive list of Tuscan and Italian wines accompanied by regional appetizers.

There is also a professional horseback riding center on the estate, where one can spend a pleasant afternoon riding the grounds (an expert teacher is available onsite for beginners). Mountain bikes are available for the more adventurous. All of Castello Lucci's farm products can be purchased for gift items.

Dishes prepared during the weekly cooking lessons include:

  • Focaccia (oiled, brushed, salted bread)
  • Salted cakes
