Antique Fair in Arezzo
Join us in Sinalunga, the heart of Tuscany, for a weekend of cooking with Chef Annunziata and antique hunting in Arezzo. The very first Sunday of the month, (and the Saturday before), the Arezzo Antique Fair is held in the center of the town. Founded in 1968 by antiquarian and collector Ivan Bruschi, it was the first monthly antique fair of its type, which over the years has expanded and enjoyed prolonged success.
The event is held in the marvelous piazza San Francesco, Piazza Grande and the Vasari Loggias. The ancient medieval hamlet is overtaken by stalls, antiquarians, collectors, curious visitors and tourists. At each fair there are more than 500 exhibitors from all over Italy. The local market of Arezzo is one of the most popular and crowded in Italy, a ‘compulsory destination’ for enthusiasts and inquisitive visitors. There are, on average, about 20,000 visitors per month, sometimes even 30,000.
Amid the stalls, one can find pieces of furniture, paintings, books and antique prints, toys, clocks, chinaware, glassware, pieces of cloth, iron or copper objects, and other ornaments. The hunt for precious objects, the ‘missing item’ of a precious collection, starts the previous evening, when the goods are still wrapped up inside the trucks, and finishes with long negotiations on Sunday at sunset.
Cooking In Sinalunga
Chef Annunziata brings you into her kitchen and will show you styles of Tuscan cooking that feature the classics. From antipasto, to pasta & risotto, your main dish and dessert, you can imagine her delicate style of cooking keeping the tradition of each recipe tasty.
The Villa
The villa is located high on the top of a lush green hillside with a panoramic view of the Tuscan vineyards, cypress trees and sunflowers. The villa is a quiet, restful resort in the heart of the rolling green countryside. In the surrounding areas there are many small villages and farms to visit on foot, bike or horseback. The villa's location makes it easy for you to swim in the Trasimeno Lake, cool down on the top of the Amiata Mountain, or admire the view of the Sienese clay hills.
From Sinalunga, the nearest town, you can easily drive or take the train to Central Italy and visit places such as Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, Pienza, Montepulciano or Montalcino. Visit Sinalunga, a charming city in the heart of Tuscany, and dine at one of its many enchanting little restaurants, which serve Tuscan dishes such as Ribollita. The local wine of Chianti, which the region is famous for, is always served at lunch and dinner.
The accommodations include independent apartments (45 sq. meters) with one bedrooms, a double bed, a living room, a private bathroom and shower, and kitchen. Satellite TV and self-governing heating are also available in each apartment. The swimming pool (7 x 14 meters) is open from June 15 until September 30.
