Join us on our magnificent Estate in the heart the countryside of Perugia in Umbria, nestled between Todi and Perugia, for our 7-day cooking adventure with Chef Amelie. Here in our precious villa property, you will experience all the emotions this region has to offer –from the peace and beauty of the surrounding countryside to the top quality produce, wine and olive oil. And of course Chef Amelie’s delicious creations!

Vineyards and olive groves surround you at the estate while you enjoy the prized wines and olive oils that come from the harvest.  There are green pastures with cattle and horses, and arable fields of cereals and legumes. Beautifully restored stone cottages, a medieval tower, and a lake inserted in a magical landscape of ravines and pine forests are also part of this property. In the kitchen, get busy with your Chef, transforming fresh, seasonal, local produce into delicious traditional Umbrian cuisine – roll out your own hand-made pasta into strangozzi or papparedelle and accompany with slow simmered meat sauces or toss with wild mushrooms. Nature’s gifts to Umbria are simple but delicious – even a bruschetta drizzled with a little extra virgin olive oil tastes different here! When you’re not busy in the kitchen, visit the nearby town of Montefalco where you can browse through its exquisite linen creations, and the hilltop town of Todi with its impressive Piazza Del Popolo.

Cooking Classes

The Villa’s Teaching Kitchen in located just a few steps away in the estate. Here, your teacher Chef Amelie opens up her recipe book and shares her best loved dishes with you, dishes based on the simple, healthful ingredients that are found in the fields around the property: emmer wheat, beans, chickpeas, tiny local lentils, locally raised beef and pork, truffles, mushrooms, chestnuts, honey, olive oil and of course the area’s game – from boar to wild hare. Amelie is an enthusiastic teacher and her classes as as fun as they are instructive. Enjoy following her steps for making pollo alla cacciatora, stuffed artichokes, slow cooked stews, delicious vegetables side dishes and lots of local dolci like biscottini, panpepato and sweet tarts. After each lesson, guests sit down to lunch to enjoy the dishes they made during class and enjoy a glass of wine. The property’s private cellars also offer a broad selection of regional wines.

Umbria

Situated in the center of the Italian peninsula, the region of Umbria is traditionally considered the green heart of Italy. As a guest, you will certainly be enchanted by the dazzling views of centuries-old villages perched atop radiant green, rolling Umbrian hillsides. Umbria is internationally known for the quality of its wines and olive oil, both of which have been produced and exported for centuries. Visit wineries and oil mills and experience the roots of the ancient land of Umbria. From Perugia and Assisi to the smaller towns of Terni, Todi & Montefalco, Umbria is a region of art, culture and nature. Important events take place throughout the year, such as the Umbria Jazz Festival (about 10 days in July), and Eurochocolate (about 10 days in October). Other attractions include the Etruscan monuments, the museums, the fresh Umbrian air, the myriad of restaurants where you can savor the traditional dishes of Umbrian and Italian cuisine, and the friendliness of the locals, who have a long tradition of welcoming visitors from other countries.

Todi & Montefalco

The pretty hilltop town of Todi became wealthy during the Middle Ages and still today its central piazza, Piazza Del Popolo, gives an idea of the grandeur of times past. Despite it being a popular destination, it has somehow managed to maintain an old-world charm, and a morning spent walking its quaint streets and alleyways is a delight. Montefalco, just a few kilometers to the north, is another pleasant village that deserves a visit, not least because it produces some of Italy’s most beautiful table linens. From tea towels to impressive damask tablecloths, Montefalco’s distinctive linens are embossed with pretty bees, olives and fruits and come in a variety of colors. In Montefalco you can also chose to visit the renowned wine producer, Cantina Antonelli, where you can sample the delicious local DOCG Sagrantino wine.
