Chef Ceci is your hostess and chef for our hands-on cooking class program in the heart of Milan, Italy’s business and fashion capital. Our 3-day cooking vacation includes a 2-night stay at our favorite Boutique Hotel just steps from Da Vinci’s Last Supper, a Chef’s Tasting Dinner on your first evening, and a Food Lover’s Tour with tastings and discussion along to landmark food and wine stops and shops and a visit to the local market.  Food, culture and history blend along with hands-on cooking with Chef Ceci. It’s the perfect treat to add onto your longer Italy vacation or business trip or a fun weekend getaway with Milan’s Malpensa and Linate Airports conveniently connected with many international cities.

Chef Ceci will make you feel right at home as you learn the art of Italian cooking by her side in her home kitchen. Spend a day immersed in wonderful Milanense food, wine and Italian hospitality. Chef Ceci leads you step-by-step in preparing antipasto, pasta, a main course and dessert with café too – recipes that you’ll be able to make again at home: a very special souvenir for your family and friends!

Cooking Classes

Meet Chef Ceci around 9:30am for tea or coffee and discussion of the menu of the day. Italian cooking is always seasonal and local, and Ceci elaborates on the foods in season from the local market and the menu of the day.

Then tie on your apron and head into the kitchen to cook together, hands-on, a complete Italian four-course meal. Start by preparing the antipasto such as fresh tomato bruschetta, prosciutto e melone or insalata caprese, then a first course such as homemade pasta, risotto, gnocchi or vegetarian minestrone, a second course including meat, fish or a vegetable dish and a dessert such as tiramisù, chocolate cake, or fresh fruit salad with gelato. All ingredients are top quality, 100-percent Italian and fresh from the local market. Menus vary based on the season, food allergies, diet needs and special menu requests.

Each cooking class lasts about 2 ½ hours in the kitchen, lunch follows and includes the foods that were prepared in class. Everyone sits down together to eat as Chef Ceci, also a wine sommelier, discusses the local wine choice & pairing. End with an Italian espresso and Chef Ceci awards your cooking diploma!

Milan

If Rome evokes images of ancient times, Florence of the Renaissance, Milan is without a doubt the epitome of the Belle-Époque. Imagine ladies and gentlemen dressed in their finest stepping out of horse-drawn carriages, to see and be seen at La Scala Opera House, trams buzzing through town as carriages gave way to the first Fiats with white-gloved drivers and passing through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II for a café before stepping out into the Piazza Duomo, home of Milan’s cathedral.

Milan is home to numerous art galleries such as the Pinacoteca di Brera, with works by Piero della Francesca, the Castello Sforzesco, home to numerous collections of paintings, statues and sculptures, and modern art & galleries perfect for design enthusiasts. Milan also hosts numerous events each year including the Milan Fashion Week, the Salon Del Mobile, modern furniture & interior design fair, Fiera Milano for exhibitions and sports lovers can see games by AC Milan or FC Internazionale Milano (Inter), Milan’s two soccer teams.

Milan is also a gastronomic paradise with historic shops, restaurants, pastry makers and cafés lining the historic center of the city. Sample risotto alla milanese, traditional golden risotto with saffron, el rostin negàa, veal medallions braised in white wine, panzerotti, golden-fried calzones filled with provola cheese & tomato, and desserts such as panettone, a sweet candied-fruit speckled bread served only at Christmas in the rest of Italy, but year round in Milan, and tortelli dolci, cream-filled bigné.

Accommodations

Your host Signor Mario welcomes you to the charming boutique hotel nestled in the quiet courtyard of a 19th century historic palazzo in the center of Milan, just steps from Santa Maria Delle Grazie & Da Vinci’s famous Last Supper. The hotel is located nearby metro & tram stops for ease of traveling around the heart of Milan and its surroundings.

Guest rooms have been recently renovated to maintain their original character with modern comforts and each room overlooks the internal courtyard or the garden. Amenities include air conditioning, heat, hairdryer, safe, satellite TV, direct dial telephone and free wi-fi internet connection.

A continental breakfast buffet is served each morning with fresh croissants, pastries, yogurt, fruit juices and steamy cappuccino, tea or espresso, and tables are just cozy enough that you can chat with fellow travelers about their plans for the day, a great place for a Milanese aperitivo or simply enjoy your cappuccino quietly.

Itinerary ~ 3 Days, 2 Nights

A Thursday check in is suggested with other check-in days possible on request.

Thursday: Arrival & Welcome Dinner

  • Arrival & check in to your Boutique Hotel in the heart of Milan. Signor Mario is available to answer all your questions and give you the advice of a local for your stay.
  • In the evening, enjoy a traditional Chef’s Tasting Dinner. Ceci prepares a seasonal menu and introduces you to the local cooking style. Local wine, water and coffee included as well as her sommelier tips on pairings. Additional wines at a surcharge.
  • Return to the hotel after dinner.

Friday: Market Tour & Cooking Class

  • Breakfast is served.
  • Meet Chef Ceci for a visit to the market early in the morning. The market bustles first thing in the morning and fruit & vegetables are delivered from the nearby farms, fresh fish from the bay in Liguria, meats & cheeses from the Alps and oven-baked breads in all shapes and sizes. Chef Ceci guides you through the market to learn about the local products in season and how to choose the best foods to bring back to the kitchen.
  • Then stroll back with Ceci to her home kitchen to cook together, hands-on, a complete Italian four-course meal. Menus vary based on the season and can accommodate food allergies, diet needs and menu requests.
  • Lunch follows on the foods prepared in class. Sit down together to eat what you have prepared and Chef Ceci, also a wine sommelier, discusses the local wine choice & pairing. End with an Italian espresso.
  • Afternoon free & dinner on your own. Suggestion: Go out for a Milanese aperitivo in the early hours of the evening. For the price of an Aperol Spritz cocktail, bars serve full buffets of finger foods, local cheeses, salami & salumi. An evening aperitivo is the perfect (and inexpensive) solution for a light dinner.
