Islands often have a touch of mystery about them and Italy’s beautiful Sardinia is no exception. With its gorgeous white beaches, exclusive resorts and Mediterranean climate, Sardinia is a must for healthy living and cuisine.  Whether you would like to visit Sardinia’s unexplored most beautiful areas that are tranquil spots far from the famous tourist spots, the Costa Smeralda or the cities of Sassari or Cagliari–the island offers something for everyone.

Cooking and culture reign in an authentic cooking tour that takes you on an unforgettable journey to the town of Olbia near the Costa Smeralda and your charming accommodations in the centro storico of the town. During your stay we welcome you to our kitchen where you will discover the secrets of local Sardinian cuisine.  Learn how to make velvety homemade pasta and delicious sauces, vegetable antipasti and local fish and meats.  And if vegetarian is your menu choice or gluten free, we accommodate any and all food allergies.

Imagine the fun of creating delicious local handmade pastas like the famous fregola and matching with seasonal sauces, learning how to clean and prepare various type of fish along with other seasonal local produce and enjoying the island’s local wine. When you are not touring, visit two different wineries where you’ll enjoy wine tastings accompanied by appetizers. Then it’s off for a full-day excursion to the islands of Tavolara and Molara. This includes a boat tour and drop off at Tavolara Island, where you will have the chance to enjoy the breathtaking beaches before returning aboard. Excellent hands-on cooking classes, local cuisine, splendid weather, warm-hearted hosts and long white beaches are just a few of the things we love of Sardinia!

Cooking Classes In Sardinia

Welcome to our kitchen with our Sardinian Chef on the island of Sardinia. You will discover the secrets of local Sardinian cuisine while making antipasti, homemade pasta, sauces, vegetarian too, local fish, meats and dessert. Excellent hands-on cooking classes, fine Sardinian wines and local liqueurs are included.

Our cooking tour is hosted at the Chef’s kitchen. His knowledge and enthusiastic attitude will soon get you excited about local cooking. He grew up in the center of Sardinia where his family reared their own chickens, rabbits, and pigs, so he is very particular for his sourcing of quality organic ingredients. Therefore, foods vary according to the seasons using the local organic ingredients.

You will learn to prepare fresh pasta, such as lasagne, ravioli, tortellini and tagliatelle. Fresh fish is a key ingredient on Sardinia making zuppa di pesce, the local fish soup a specialty. Additional fish and seafood are included and you will learn how to clean, cook and know correct cooking times. He will also teach you how to fillet, salt and grill both fish and meat. Classes always end on a sweet note and might include papassini, local cookies perfect for dipping into coffee, tiliccas, a typical sweet made with honey and toasted almonds, or even seada, a flaky, fried pastry puff stuffed with sheep’s milk ricotta, orange zest and different herbs then drizzled with honey. Lunch or dinner follows and includes the foods prepared in your cooking class and includes fine Sardinian wines and local liqueurs to conclude.

Sardinia

The second largest island in the Mediterranean, Sardinia is as famous for its as its wild mountainous inland areas as it is for its long stretches of white beach along the coasts. All over the island you’ll find the ruins of thousands of Nuraghi – the ancient megalithic stone fortresses of Sardinia’s first inhabitants, the Nuraghic people, along with countless other archeological treasures.  Over the centuries, Sardinia was invaded by Greeks, Phoenicians and Romans, and was later colonized by Pisans, Spaniards and Austrians all of whom left their mark, if not in terms of architecture, then in terms of customs or gastronomy. The island boasts mile upon mile of unspoiled countryside, both highlands and coastline, and there are numerous nature reserves where you’ll find herons, flamingoes, wild pigs, deer, Peregrine falcon, golden eagles and griffin vultures.

Town of Olbia

Known as the gateway to Sardinia, Olbia is a town just south of Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda known for its splendid sea and beaches, and looks out over a spectacular gulf that spans the Tavolara Marina Area. The coast leading north from Olbia is truly mesmerising, with its crystalline waters and myriad turquoise inlets. In the 7th century B.C. the Greeks arrived and gave the name Olbia – ‘happiness’. But archeological findings suggest Olbia was first settled by the Phoenicians before them. However, the area also contains Nuragic ruins dating back to the Bronze Age, including the Tomb of the Giant of su Monte de s’Aba, the riu Mulinu nuraghe, the village of Belveghile and the sa Testa sacred well. The centro storico (historic center) is alive with boutiques, wine bars and inviting piazzas where you can grab a steaming caffè or a glass of local Vermentino at one of the many cafés. But it also has much to recommend it from a historical and cultural viewpoint. Apart from the historic ruins just outside Olbia, visit the town’s harbor-side archaeological museum, and its Pisan-style basilica, San Simplicio.
