Naples Food Tour ~ 3 Hours

Caffè & Sfogliatella, Pizza, Pasta, Baba & San Gennaro!

If there’s one way to get straight to the heart of Naples, it’s through out Naples Food Tours. From a frothy cappuccino accompanied by a hand-made sfogliatella to the simple perfection of a Pizza Margherita, just one bite and you know you’re in Bella Napoli! Taste your way through Naples with your foodie guide Patrizia and sample the best of Napoli’s culinary traditions. Start your morning with a traditional Neapolitan caffè & sfogliatella, then set out for your visit to the city’s famous landmarks. Neapolitans know their food, and Patrizia will point out all the popular local artisans and producers and explain more about seasonal fruits, vegetables, meat and fish on the way. Marvel at market stalls piled high with fresh produce and enjoy the spectacle of locals bartering for the freshest goods at the lowest prices. (A Neapolitan housewife at the produce market is a force to be reckoned with!)

Between one bite and the next (Naples’ crocchè, fried potato croquettes, and sweet fried zeppoline are a popular 11am snack), visit the Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo, one of the city’s best-known Baroque structures, and San Gregorio Armeno, home to Naples’ presepi, beautiful hand-crafted nativity scenes that result in this street being known as Christmas Alley. Soak up the atmosphere of the Duomo, where every year the people of Naples gather to pray that the blood of their Patron Saint San Gennaro liquefies, thus ensuring a prosperous year for the city and its inhabitants. Slip into the beautiful cloisters of Santa Chiara with their hand-painted majolica tiles and soak up the cool serenity of the church. At the end of your tour, Patrizia will leave you at one of the city’s best-loved historic pizzerias where you can lunch on your own.

Naples ~ An Archeological Journey

Visit Naples National Archeological Museum & Ancient Meat & Fish Market!

Along with our guides, set out on a fascinating journey through Naples’ illustrious past. Once one of the most important cities in Magna Graecia, Naples grew rapidly under Greek rule, before it was taken over by the Romans and made into Roman colony. From Naples to Herculaneum and Pompeii, the wealthy citizens of Rome marked their progress with a series of lavish villas, theaters, aqueducts and public baths. Your tour starts directly at the Museum where our expert guide will lead you on a visit through the many rooms, pointing out and explaining hundreds of treasures, including exquisite artifacts, mosaics and frescos rescued from the sites of Pompeii and other Vesuvian cities. Once inside, it’s impossible not be struck by how very modern the Ancient Romans were, and you can’t but marvel at the leatherwork, blown glass, kitchen implements and surgical tools, all of which illustrate the advanced knowledge and skills of this ancient people.

From the museum, walk to Naples’ historic center to visit the Ancient Meat & Fish Market. On the way, Patrizia will point out the many signs of Naples’ exuberant past and the tour finishes at Piazza Gesù. With our guide’s help you will soon understand why Naples has been so sorely fought over through the millennia, its superb setting, its climate and its natural resources having attracted settlers and conquerors, for more than 4,000 years.
