The Hugo Aperitivo
The Hugo, an Italian aperitivo, is infused with delicate notes of elderflower blended with Prosecco, Italian lemon and mint making it a crisp and refreshing cocktail for leisurely afternoons and golden hours often called, la dolce vita. Named after Signor Hugo, who first mixed the ingredients in the Dolomites, Italian Alps, today The Hugo is the most popular aperitivo in Italy.

To prepare the Hugo, chill a glass, then pour in the lemon balm syrup and a few ice cubes. If you can't find lemon balm syrup, which is very rare, replace it with elderberry syrup.

Pour in the Prosecco, then dilute the drink with soda.

Add ice with the help of tongs. Mix carefully and delicately with a bar spoon.

Finish the cocktail with the decoration: a few fresh mint leaves and a slice of lemon. The Hugo cocktail is ready.
